What you get back depends on the file:
FTManager and FuelTech Vision
.ftmapCurrent maps. We recover the password, which opens the map in FTManager or FuelTech Vision. The tune inside isn't changed.
Older FTManager maps
.ftmWe recover the numeric password, which then opens the map in FTManager. Upload .ftm files on the unlock page, as the free check above reads .ftmap only. Recovery can take up to a minute.
Why FuelTech maps get locked
FTManager lets a tuner lock a map with a password to protect their calibration. It's standard practice when a calibration is sold or comes with a car.
It becomes a problem when you buy a car with a locked FuelTech tune, lose contact with the tuner, or forget the password after a long break from the build. We work from the file alone, so there's nothing to ship and no hardware involved.
See it worked before you pay
We unlock your file first and show you what we found in it. You decide whether to pay after that, and if we can't unlock it, you aren't charged.
Masked password
We show the password we found in your file with every character but the first hidden. The full password appears as soon as you pay.
