You're staring at PCLink, your Link ECU file is open, and every single table is grayed out. Password protected. Maybe you bought the car this way. Maybe the tuner who set it up disappeared. Maybe you just need to make a quick adjustment and can't because someone decided to lock everything down.
Whatever the story is, we hear it every week. And we can help.
What We Actually Do
Most "ECU unlock" services strip the password and hand you back a modified file. That works, but it means you don't know what the password was, and you might run into issues if the ECU and the file get out of sync.
We do something different. We recover the real password that the tuner originally set. The exact one. Letter for letter.
When you get it from us, you type it into PCLink, the lock icon goes away, and you have full access. No modified files, no workarounds, no weird side effects. Just the password.
Which Link ECUs Do We Support?
Every model that uses PCLink software:
- Link G4+ — Atom, Storm, Monsoon, Thunder, Fury, Kurokawa, Wire-In, Plug-In models
- Link G4X — XtremeX, AtomX, StormX, MonsoonX, ThunderX, FuryX, KurokawanX
- Link G4 — all original G4 units (these are even simpler — see our free G4 guide)
If your file ends in .pclx, .pclr, or .pcl, we can work with it.
How the Process Works
- Upload your file — Head to our unlock page and drop your PCLink calibration file in. We accept
.pclx,.pclr, and.pclfiles. - We verify it first — Before you pay a cent, our system checks the file, confirms it's password-protected, and verifies that we can recover the password. You'll see a masked preview of the password (like
r****p) so you know it worked. - Pay and download — Once you're satisfied it's legit, you pay and get the full password instantly. That's it.
The whole thing takes a few minutes. No back-and-forth emails, no waiting days for someone to manually process your file.
Why Tuners Lock ECU Files
Before anyone gets upset at tuners — there are legit reasons to password-protect a map. Tuners spend hours dialing in fuel tables, ignition timing, boost targets, and safety limits for a specific setup. Locking the file prevents someone from making dangerous changes that could blow a motor.
The problem comes when ownership changes. The car gets sold, the tuner retires, the shop closes down. Now the new owner is stuck with a locked ECU and no way to contact the person who has the password. That's where we come in.
Can't I Just Get the Tuner to Unlock It?
If you can reach them, absolutely try that first. But in our experience, about half the people who come to us have already tried:
- The tuner doesn't respond to emails or calls
- The shop closed down years ago
- The tuner wants to charge hundreds of dollars just to hand over a password
- The car changed hands multiple times and nobody kept the tuner's contact info
- The tuner is in another country
If any of that sounds familiar, stop wasting time chasing people down. We'll get you the password in minutes.
Try It Free
Still not sure? We have a free Link ECU password tester. Upload your file, and we'll show you a masked preview of the password — first and last character visible, the rest hidden. No payment, no signup. Just confirmation that your password is recoverable.
When you're ready for the full password, upload your file here and we'll have it back to you in minutes.
